My Top 7 Self-Care Moments to Feed Your Overall Health and Wellbeing
Updated: Nov 10

'If you’re searching for that one person that will change your life,
take a look in the mirror'
Recently I was feeling a little 'less than par'. The first thing I wanted to do was call my mum. Even though she is no longer here in the physical, it is still my default when I am feeling unwell. I shed some tears acknowledging I miss her, then I took a deep breathe and asked myself, 'what was the most beneficial thing I could do right now to assist my healing process?'

Once I remembered that I held the power to help myself get back to feeling 100%, the recipe to my recovery came swiftly - essential oils, crystals, chicken soup, immune system support supplements, staying hydrated, sleep and an unshakeable belief in my ability to heal myself swiftly. My personal list of self-care items combined with my intuition came together in a powerful way. My recovery was one of the swiftest I have ever experienced. I believe my new-found awareness of the power of self-care, and it's connection to self-love was key to this quick recovery.
Self-care is a bit like chopping wood.
When viewed as a daily necessity you will never run out.

My Top 7 Self-Care Moments to Feed Your Overall Health and Wellbeing
1. Create Sacred Morning Time
There is something very precious about mornings. It's a new beginning, and a powerful time to create. When you wake up, and before you get out of bed, set some intentions. Visualise your day unfolding as you would like it. This practice engages you with your day on a conscious level, and gives your day some framework.
2. Do Something That Makes Your Heart Sing.
Create a list of things that make your heart sing. Those little things the fill your heart with joy. I love watching the sunrise as I walk along the river. I also love watching the sunset over the ocean. What makes your heart sing? Snuggled up on the couch with a good book? Soaking in a warm bath? Enjoying a good coffee in your favourite cafe? Once you have created your list, make time each day to do at least one of them.
3. Drop Into Your Heart Space
All the thinking you do throughout the day keeps you in your head space, sometimes to the point you can forget about the gentle wisdom that is in your heart space. A quick and easy way to drop into your heart space is to stop, and take three deep breathes. In the moment that follows, ask yourself " what is the most beneficial thing for me to do right now?" Trust that an answer will be given.
4. Connect With Nature's Revitalising Energy
To really connect with nature requires you to immerse yourself in all that it has to offer you. Where possible touch it, smell it, feel it, hear it, see it. Hug a tree. Smell a flower. Take your shoes off and walk on the ground barefoot. Go outside, shut your eyes and listen to the sounds of nature. Watch a sunset. The natural world is here to support you!
5. Fuel Yourself With Good Things
I love the KISS philosophy ... Keep It Simple Sweetheart! A good night's sleep. Good quality water in amounts that work for you. Lots of good green coloured vegetables. A good dose of fresh air and some good healing rays of sunshine. All of these good things will support your body to remain vital throughout your day whilst sending a beautiful message of love within.
6. Be Your #1 Fan
Life is about relationships and the most important relationship you will ever have is the one you have with yourself. Set aside time each day for a date with yourself. Turn off all distractions. Treat yourself. Pamper yourself. Make it a priority to learn to 'be' with yourself. After all, you are a human 'BE'ing.
7. Really See Your Self
There is something magical about looking at yourself in the mirror. Louise Hay, an American motivational author, believed that looking deeply into your eyes whilst saying something positive had the power to transform your life. Make a point of acknowledging something positive about yourself every time you see yourself in the mirror. You are beautiful. Acknowledge it. You will love yourself for it. As Wayne Dyer said, "change the way you see things, and the things you see will change."

Every day you are given a new opportunity to show yourself how much you care about yourself. A wise person once said, 'If it's to be, it's up to me'. Make time to be with yourself every day. Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make!
